🏅 Two graduates of Brno University of Technology received the Czech Republic’s Medal of Merit for their contributions to technology. Tomáš Mikolov contributed to the development of Word2Vec, a method that turns words into mathematical vectors to represent relationships in meaning. Filip Maleňák created Záchranka, an app that lets people contact emergency services, share their precise location, and find nearby defibrillators.
💡 Explanation in a nutshell#
Word2Vec helps computers treat words as data and identify which ones are related. Záchranka uses mobile technology to help emergency services locate and assist someone. They are different examples of how research and development can make a difference beyond the lab.
