Key Features in Python 3.15

··192 words·1 min·

🐍 Python 3.15 is now available, with changes to the language, standard library, and performance. Highlights include a built-in sentinel type, unpacking in comprehensions, frozendict, and an explicit option to import modules lazily.

It also organizes profiling tools in a new package and includes Tachyon, a statistical profiler that samples program execution. The experimental JIT compiler has improved, and the interpreter now uses UTF-8 as its default encoding.

💡 Explanation in a nutshell
#

A lazy import can postpone loading a module until the program actually needs it, which may help it start faster. A profiler like Tachyon takes snapshots of a program to show which functions use the most time without checking every call.

The release also adds typing and C API improvements. Check the official notes for the full list and review compatibility before upgrading.
